The Louisa County Visitor's Center is looking for volunteers. You could assist travelers in deciding what to see in our beautiful part of the state. Don't know much about the area, this is a great way to learn where things are and what central Virginia has to offer. If you are interested let Lisa Bailey know at 540-832-0555. |

Books for Babies is this great program that we offer to new moms to encourage reading. Why is reading so important to an infant? (1) Reading aloud to an infant sharpens brain capacity by stimulation of the senses (2) Develops the ability to concentrate (3) builds self-expression skills (4) Increases all language skill development.
When do I read to an infant? You should read as often as possible when you and your child are both happy. Point to the pictures and talk about them, with expression in your voice when you read. Your lap is a really great place for your child to sit. The Louisa County School System is joining hands with Volunteers of Louisa and the parents of newborn children to jump-start reading in the life of every Louisa County child. We are very excited about this program and we need your help to spread the word to every new mom in Louisa. We have a great package to give to each one. We are always looking for volunteers to read to infants and to pass out more packages to our new moms. Give me a call at 967-6095 or email me at
