Would you like to have the basic skills to respond to a disaster in your home, business, church or community? Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) training can help prepare you for disaster response. You will learn about the types of hazards most likely to affect your home and community and how to prepare yourself for the situation.

Training includes things like basic first aid and CPR and how to suppress small fires. Methods for conducting the initial size-up of homes and workplaces, reducing immediate dangers, working with others to establish a command post and establishing communication with emergency responders will also be covered.

After learning the basic skills, you can help your community through CERT. Volunteers are needed to be the "eyes and ears" in their communities in the event of a major disaster. CERT members would support first-line emergency responders through situation evaluation and communication to help prioritize disaster response.
